AS I WRITE I AM FEELING ROUGH! however, it is all self inflicted... partially. I seem to have inherited Rach's rarther flemmy cough, have COMPLETELY lost my voice and have a wicked hangover. Because we are going on safari today (Ngorogor EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE) we had to take friday off school, so we thought we may as well go the whole hog and get to Arusha for Thursday night to go to Via Via. Via Via describes itself as a cultural bar, and thursday nights are in essentials the same as barley nights, EXCEPT 10 TIMES BETTER! (well, i dont want to slag off my beloved barley so i may just say differnt, but they have a live band)
Its all outside, big garden, chinease lanterns, epic stage so chilled out, millions of mzungus and NO CREEPY LOCALS WHO PUT THERE HANDS UP YOUR SKIRTs (not in my pool).
By the way, i would just like to add at this point that 5 seconds ago i got my last unconditional i was waiting for from Edinburgh, casually declined it and accepted UCL. hell yeah baby.
So yes, a very good night, celebrating my now 19ness!
Right, backtracking the week quickly i must describe my birthday abit more becuase it was just SO FUN!
I was rarther rudely awoken by Victoria M and Rach bouncing me awake (not happy about this). But soon trotted off toschool for our first lesson (at 8:00). BOth classes had fun singing me happy birthday at the top of their lungs then we did no work for the lessons. Mainly did a wordswearched (heavily based around me and birthday themse) which i hilariously inputted words like poo, bum, nude etc... they didnt find them, it was just very funny. Kisololi spent the rest of the lesson drawing (most made me cards!) and we taught Nshara a new song. To the tune of 'give me oil in my lamp', which slightly atlered the words to 'give me water in my tap, keep it running....' and sentiment we feel very strongly out here!
A nice break where the teachers gave me two chapaties, on top of my cup of chai and half cakes (hmmm.......) and after a while we tottled back home. Got to the house nice and early so settled down with V.M's ipod to finish watching pride and prejudice, and then shrek 2 whilst everyone else did stuff! Massive lunch of pancakes, followed by cake! I must now describe how amazing the idea of cake is becuase we have no oven, just a keroseen stove (posher tranger essentially!) so they made an oven with pans and coins, and it took 3 hours! it was amazing though, and i was completely oblivious to it! After this we trudged up to the pool (bout 4 by this time) where i received a very nice phonecall from Anna, which was epic as i aint spoken to her in like two months (wierd.com). Managed to blag the use of one of the $154 rooms to have a HOT POWER SHOWER (first in a month) and sit on the SPRUNG MATRESSES WITH PILLOWS, FEATHER PILLOWS AND A TV!!!! Quite amazing.. Later we were joined by two of the young teachers from school, Doris and Catherin, Who stayed for a really nice drink then had a WEPIC meal of beef stroganoff!
Also on tuesday i got my first parcel from home, including some trousers, thermals AND MALTEASERS. ohh, a good birthday treat!
Right, i am running out of time, but i shall write on sunday to fill you in about SAFARI IN NGOROGORO CRATER!!! eeeeEEEEEE!!!!!
hope englands thawing out.
